Blog Post 1

It can be hard to keep things simple. We start adding classes and clubs in college and suddenly we are doing homework at 3AM while our roommates are sleeping to get it all done. Sometimes you ask someone about a relationship and their reply is "Its complicated." There is even a category on Facebook to explain that fact!

We can easily overcomplicate our spiritual life as well. Part of the good news (and stumbling blocks) of the gospel is its simplicity. Legalism and works can easily sneak into your thoughts and pure relationship with Christ.

Paul was aware of this human tendency when he spoke to the Corinthian church and cautioned them against accepting a  gospel other that Christ crucified.

But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity [and purity] that is in Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:3

For the wages of sin is death BUT the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Anything added or taken away from this simple gospel is a complication. The Gospel is Jesus. The only way to relationship with the Father is through Jesus. While we were still dead in our sins, Jesus freely died to give us eternal life.  You can choose to accept this free gift or reject it, but never think that you can attain relationship with the father or eternal life through any work of your own.

For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

That is the point of the good news! We don't have to work for salvation, Christ has freely purchased it for us! Taking this one step farther:

Christ came to give us life and life abundant!!

When we live from this place of relationship with the father that Jesus purchased for us there is love, joy, peace and all the other fruits of the spirit at work in our lives. Holy spirit comes and lives within us

  1. Salvation
    1. Eternal life
    2. Relationship with the father
  2. Holy spirit (Jesus in us the hope of glory!)

testing how good this works. Woah this could work!

Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you.

Live from the knowledge that it has already been purchased for us. This place of relationship with the father has power to change us. The more we live in his presence the more we are changed! Its exciting thing to know that just hanging out with the Father changes us!

Henry cloud quote?

What are we trying to do on our own that has already been solved by the spirit of God.

(2/2/2018 okay also you would add a whole dissertation on Romans 6 7 8 about how its been done and I am now married to another)

Not by power, not by might, but by my spirit.
